Hypertension is the most important risk factor for major forms of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs), highly prevalent and attributable to nearly half of the deaths from non-communicable diseases. Heart conditions caused by high blood pressure are referred to as Hypertensive heart disease. The term is rather not alien, in fact, incorporates common titles as heart failure, stroke, heart attack, blockage in heart muscle etc.
Awareness and diagnosis are keys to a safe route. Many patients spent years without even knowing that hypertension is taking a toll on their cardiovascular health. It is imperative to identify, disseminate and implement more effective approaches to achieve optimal control of the condition.

With this background and an urgency to deal with it, the Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health in collaboration with Strategic Institute of Public Health Education and Research (SIPHER), Chandigarh will be hosting a webinar on ‘Hypertension and Cardiovascular Complications’. Eminent Cardiologists and faculty from PGIMER and will be sharing the cardiovascular complications related to hypertension and ways to deal with them.
